About
Who's behind Herron
The short version
Herron is built and run by Matthew Hardern, a software developer based in the UK. It's an independent product — no agency, no investors, one person who thinks planning a floor should be easier than it is.
What Herron is
Herron is a free, browser-based tile and flooring layout planner. You draw your room, pick a tile or plank size, choose a pattern, and Herron works out the layout: exactly how many pieces you need, how many packs to buy, what gets cut and where. The aim is that you walk into a shop — or a checkout page — knowing your exact requirement, instead of guessing and over-ordering.
It's used by homeowners planning a single bathroom and by contractors and interior designers pricing jobs every week. Your project data stays in your browser unless you create an account to sync it.
How Herron makes money
Herron is free to use. Where we show links to retailers' product pages, some of those links may be affiliate links, which means Herron can earn a small commission if you buy — at no extra cost to you. That's the only monetisation. The full details are on the disclosure page.
